Reviewing the kid-friendly cookbook: We Can Cook was a dream assignment. I love teaching my daughter about new foods and flavors, which I hope, is helping her learn more about the joys of cooking, new ingredients and experimenting in the kitchen.

This fun activity is also an incredible bonding and learning experience as she learns about measurements, kitchen tools and how a meal actually comes together. One way to also encourage cooking at home is to go through a kids’?? recipe and make one new recipe every week focusing on healthy foods where you discuss everything from how to pour, weight and experiment with new tastes and textures. I recently had the opportunity to test out such a cookbook called We Can Cook by Jessica Fishman Levison and Maja Pitamic.

Featuring over 75 kid-friendly recipes and activities, We Can Cook encourages children to enjoy simple meals as well as teaches them how to combine ingredients to make healthy meals at home. Reading through the book, I was drawn into the gorgeous pictures.

The simple, yet delicious recipe options that are categorized within the sections of fruit, vegetables, dairy and eggs, bread pasta and grains, meat, chicken, fish and tofu and healthy treats. I also loved reading the handy and informative mini sections within the book that were not only beneficial to my daughter but really provided me with some helpful information on evergreen topics such as how to grow seeds for vegetables, how to make a table setting, how to pick fruit and how to test eggs for freshness. I also learned what makes cakes rise and I learned more about safety and measurement topics, including temperature conversions for weight, volume and length.

These mini-courses are featured throughout the book where you and your child can create a fun recipes like blueberry muffins, white bean dip, veggie pizza, frozen raspberry popsicles, tomato soup, homemade applesauce, oatmeal raisin cookies and much more all while learning more about a technique, kitchen tool and ingredient at the same time.

We Can Cook also focuses on the picky eater (specifically kids from 3 to 6) by teaching them about food through a fun activity such as exploring tastes and smell with your nose or teaching them about vegetables from around the world by identifying, and ultimately, learning more about them.

Family time (as we all know) is precious. One of the best ways to incorporate a family activity with fun is through a fun and interactive activity like baking or cooking. In We Can Cook, you will not only discover more recipes but you will find more ideas how to make cooking and baking fun and enjoyable ‘?? making for a fun and lasting bonding experience.
